Can Olive be a super-low valley with no water? That would really help the run off from large collapses. Thanks.

Yes, great! Then the people in the surrounding sims won't get mad! Just to let ya know, I live in one of those surrounding sims (Teal), so, I am agreeing with this suggestion from BOTH sides

Olive should be a sim seperated on all sides by nothing. Use a teleporter from various newbie areas to access it.

As an interrim solution, Olive should be lowered into a valley.
What I would really like, Boso already mentioned, which was the complete seperation of Olive from the main grid, free teleport there and to home location (home cant be set to olive). In the Very long term, id like to see a complete grid of sandboxes (like 3-4 or more sims), so people can teleport there, have fun with physics and other experimenters, sim lines, and whatnot, then come back into the main grid via teleportation. Also Id like the ability to terriform a bit in the sandbox, I mean, it *is* a sandbox after all. Btw, one of the lindens made a part of the sandbox non build (this was 8/13/03) hopefully this problem is solved in the Olive wipe. Well Chris, sims cost money to put up, and frankly I don't see a real need for the Lindens to put up 2 or 3 more right now.
But anyhow, maybe a little bit of terraforming wouldn't hurt, long as it gets reset every night. A LITTLE bit ![]() _____________________

Note the "Very long term" I meant in about 1-2 years. _____________________

From the Slate perspective, the Olive plateau looks good, but causes mischevious objects to come flying over. I would also vote for the "lower the middle of Olive" plan, resulting in a sort of square version of a lunar crater. It's probably the best we can hope for in the short run, anyhow; if SL adds new sims, sandboxes may not be the most needed right now.

Any way to make sounds stay in the sandbox? Or to force objects to die at edge?

Removing it from the grid might do it

Removing from the grid sounds good
![]() Noise & stray objects don't usually bug me (I'm in Teal). But when it starts, it usually gets really noisy for at least an hour before people get tired and move onto something else. |

Yeah, it'd fix the noise and stray objects, but it also means that people won't be able to just do a cruise-by to see what's going down over there.
I'd really rather not lose the ability to check out what random people are doing in the Sandbox... so why not just make all the objects die at the edge and put up noise barriers around Olive? _____________________

Its quite simple to kill the collision noise on an object just put in:
llCollisionSound("",0.1); Passing an empty string to llCollisionSound() will set the collision sound to nothing. The bad thing about this solution is that falling builds arent as much fun as they are when we experimenters cant hear them crashing to the ground (in olive). I dunno if the default collision sound is available anywhere, if it is then it can just be inserted into the llCollisionSound() with a lower volume. _____________________
