Just like in photoshop or illustrator where ya can select the point of the canvasor object where ya want to *strech* from, why can't Sl have that? Even for measuring prim positioning, sizing, resizing etc? Why can we selct an end of the prim that's standing still and entering the #s for the other side to stretch? Just like when ya sretch manually one side only.

Even for rotation..always from the middle of prims..that really suck...

Is it that hard to implement ? Have no I dea, but I know for sure it would make building a joy! :)

You know what I'm talking about?
Have the point like below to choose from:

Being able to choose a point of rotation certainly would be useful. I suppose currently you can fudge it by by adding an extra prim at the position you want to rotate around, make it the root prim and then rotate that.

rotating a sliced torus is a bitch, I support this.

Like Haravikk say, adding an extra prim and link it last (so it becomes the yellow root) is often usefull to determine your own rotationpoint. Keep the added object (usually a box) in its original position. Set the rotation angle within the build window for precise rotation. the rootprim determines the rotation of the whole linked set. Use the Select Linked object option and only select the added rotation prim. Then choose Unlink to remove it from the linkset. Next you can remove the added rotation prim then.

yes it is easy to implement, via script, using class 9-10 math (for rectangular planes) and a hud. (just user friendly.)
you just fail at that.

Try doing that inside a link set. Unlinking and relinking is a PITA.

No-one said it was ideal, just that you can do it now if you can't live without the feature. The build tools in SL could really do with a make-over IMO, and this is one of the features I'd like to see as part of it.

everything in SL seems to get improvements, visual, grid stability, database...Why not the dang building tools?

It would make the job a lot easier for seasoned and beginners builders alike:)
