I searched for this and really haven't found anything regarding a suggestion like this, to my surprise.

A simple log-out button is something that I've been expecting for a Second Life client for a while but it's never come, and it's pretty aggravating whenever anything happens where that your connection is lost to SL, to have to close your client, which takes a while (considering that when you've been running the client for a while it does get pretty taxing on your CPU), and then have to open the client again.

A log out button would be great for taking you back to the log-in screen quickly and easily, especially when you have to 're-log' to fix any errors you may be having.

All-in-all, I think a coming update for the SL client should include any type of log-out button.

Yeah.. That would be awesome. I still look for one sometimes out of sheer habit.

I second this . . .

One household computer, 2 users, would be better to just log out as one and log in as the other.

If the sim is having issues you won't log on properly or right away and you'll get the "Logging you out"dialog and be forced to wait 2-10 minutes anyway.

If the viewer is having issues you do *not* want to reuse the same instance since the problems will just continue at best, or get even worse in the case of memory leaks.

That said, closing the viewer, opening a new instance and relogging is near-instant in both cases. If logging off or starting a new instance of the view is slow you have a problem on your end and a logging out button wouldn't make any difference.

I get "the region you were at is currently unavailable" sends me to some random PG area (this part I hate, it should MATCH the region you were in, for me, always "mature";) and I tele right back away to where I was.

A log out button would be nice, but why would you need to log out and log in again?

If you have two avatars, it wouldnt be practical as both avatars are controlled by one user, so it is not very feasible.

I am with this idea though.

Permission testing. It's easier on the computer to log out and log in as the alt to recieve the sent item than running two clients.

That's one valid reason.

Role playing. Maybe you have alts to have names for each RP personality.

There's two.

Problems like rendering errors, etc. are something that you need to close your client and start it again, that wouldn't be fixed by a log-out button, but every once in a while there are a few issues that may come up that can be fixed by simply logging out and logging back in.

As for logging out and starting a new instance of the client being the same, it really isn't. :/ I'll be running Second Life perfectly fine, and for instance, if the simulator you are in crashes and goes offline, you are logged out of SL and forced to start a new instance. For me, and just about everybody I know that is active on Second Life, this may take a while if you were logged in for at least twenty minutes. Said user's computer also proceeds to run pretty slowly for the next couple of minutes due to Second Life being pretty 'resource heavy' as I like to put it. And starting the client again just adds a bit more time to the wait.

Also, late post is late. Been forgetting to check back on this thread.
