Group Bulletin Boards

One thing I would like to see is some form of an in-game bulletin board system for groups. The IM feature for groups is just annoying, especially when majority of the IMs are "mee toos"

The bulletin board could be a simulated bulletin board that you "tack" note cards too or a BBS system that allows you to read threaded messages, or both!

It would help in managing large groups and allow them to have discussions without SpIMing everyone.

One thought, if you have BBS, it is part of the Group properties window, but only selectable by group members.

Thoughts?

What about Usenet style newsgroups with a client built into the interface? I've seen that kind of thing built into MUD's before. They could be run on a Linden server and only accessible through the SL viewer.

Excellent idea! And -

We need to have a complete list of all members of the group members. Larger groups do NOT have this.

IM'ing doesn't work well only goes to a limited number of group members.

I endorse this idea/feature.

Just so you know www.sluniverse.com offers private group forums for any group right now.

But I agree in-game group forums/bulletin boards would be very usefull.

BTW, when we get xml-rpc and bidirectional email, this could be implemented in LSL.

Although it is not integrated into the client, I have private forums available for any group that wants them on SLUniverse.com. If you would like a private forum for your group, IM me in game or send me a private message here or at SLUniverse. DarkWood currently has private forums for its members and officers, and I would like to add more.

Hmm.. with the out/in bound communication comming, it would be fairly feasible to create this in world, assuming you are storing the actual data off world (16k would not hold too many messages).... Definately something to play with. (although I used to do notecards in a cube to simulate this....)

I thought about this too, setting up a board or something that stores notecards. However if I want to store multiple notecards, but vend out only those the person wants, I have to set up a vending machine of sorts.

In lieu of a proper bulletin board, are there any multi-note card vending machines out there?
