another away/busy mode please

Please correct me if I am wrong here:

Away - still get IMs and see chat
Busy - Don't see any chat in area and IMs get a busy message

Any chance of another mode where you see local chat but IMs get busy message?

When scripting, I don't want to be troubled by IMs (busy message works well) but I also would like to say Hi and acknowledge anyone that is around me so as not to be rude. In Busy mode I don't even see their chat.
