I don't really have a feature suggestion per say...
I just want to know when something new will be introduced.
I know shadows can work with manipulation of the open source client.
I heard that they are working on true HTML on a prim (ages ago)
I heard they were thinking of toying with weather (ages ago)
I heard they were going to let users make their own saveable AO in the client, like gestures work (ages ago)
I heard they were looking into vector manipulation in the client (ages ago)
I heard they were looking into fixing joints ...see old windchimes made by lindens(ages ago)
I heard....blah blah blah...
I am not really trying to rant here, but why is your Blog devoid of new upcoming features and possible new tools that creators (such as myself) would care about?
SL has been stable (snickers) for awhile. Bugs have been squashed. I am on alot and rarely logged out. When the hell are you guys going to implement something fun, useful and worthy of getting my creative juices to flow.
Thanks!

Because when LL mentions new features a large group of us panic and start ranting about fixing what we have already.... Understandable.
They appear to be working on exactly what we've been asking for. Stability. (Yay!)
The whole LLnet magic could really smooth out and open up SL to much higher concurrency numbers. =) I also noticed a new "spare time(ms)" metric slid into the latest viewer, that now works on 1.25 server code. A super useful metric that literally warns of impending overload(lag).
I do agree, some new toys would be fun.... but i am really enjoying them concentrating on performance/ experience ATM...
As a side note, You may now find it easier to get a Linden response by posting in their specific blogs. Viewer, Server, etc.. =) Especially since it emails them when you post.... (nay nay!)

They have been working on stability for like 2 years. It's dumb. I am logged on constantly... doing all sorts of things (like scripting, building, dancing...) My Avie has been everywhere and I am pretty darned sure the damned thing is stable. People that whine about stability probably should upgrade their computer or internet connection and stop complaining about stability. Seriously. I lose connection with SL maybe once a week and I am logged on over 12 hrs a day.....I'm pretty sure it's stable enough. Most the time users dont even know what they are talking about.....like particles for exmaple. You know how many places ive been where people complain that particles cause sim lag.... Uhh no! Your computer sucks and turn down the particle slider on YOUR Client cause its on YOUR end. So many complain about stability of SL when the actual issue is with their own lame-ass computer, videocard or internet connection.

From: Johnny Mann I heard they were looking into fixing joints ...see old windchimes made by lindens(ages ago) By "lindens" you mean "Beatfox Xevious", right? I haven't seen any jointed windchimes made by Lindens, and Beatfox managed to replicate the effect of jointed chimes with physical objects. From: someone I am not really trying to rant here, but why is your Blog devoid of new upcoming features and possible new tools that creators (such as myself) would care about? Because they're spending too much effort on trying to fix the blog itself? More seriously, if you want to know what they're not-ready-to-announce, you need to look in the JIRA.

More seriously, if you want to know what they're not-ready-to-announce, you need to look in the JIRA. No I was actually referring to the old joint created windchime by a real Linden (it used real joints before they were removed....cant remember the first name) I went to Jira this morning and really tried navigating that thing and couldn't get really far. I know that sounds pathetic, but I use and write oracle scripts for our tech department here at work and I couldn't figure out how to look for features. The filter is not very helpful. Then again I only wasted around 5 minutes before I gave up.

When joints were broken he produced a "version 2" that didn't use joints, but his first version definitely did.

http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR?report=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.project:openissues-panelJust click a section you want to browse, and scroll down the entries. On the left side is a little 'page' symbol, either with a red circle or green cross. These green crosses are 'New Feature' entries. It's really not hard to figure out.

At one point, Philip Linden claimed that chimes and other objects made by him made up 95% of all jointed SL content! http://secondlife.wikia.com/wiki/Town_Hall_7/7/06

That must have been very early. When they announced joints were going away I went around looking for jointed objects: most of the jointed objects I could find rezzed in public areas were swings, and *all* the chimes I found were Beatfox's.

It's not "pen issues". It's "open issues" with a ":" before the "o" which gets interpreted as a smiley.
