When i first came to SL years ago my screen resolution was a standard 1024x768 and i could perfectly see the small medium and large sizes for the local chat screen fonts. However since the many upgrades I've done to my computers my screen resolution is now way higher then that and the large sized screen font now looks like small to me. I was wondering if anyone else thinks it's a good idea to suggest for linden lab to give us some larger sizes like extra large? Or better yet allow us to specify the screen font size with a slider? i know thats possible since you can resize the UI and the font for that changes with it.

Perhaps this can be done on the user side? Editing fonts maybe?

Excellent idea. Have you thought of maybe adding this to the JIRA? Isn’t there a user interface suggestions area there?
Over the years I’ve noticed a correlation between my screen size increasing and my vision decreasing…humm

you can already do this in the debug options, they are all kinda in the same area and clearly labled

it wont take effect untill you restart SL but it sticks everytime after that untill you uninstall (it seems)

I set the font size to a higher number (5) and i saw no change. When i restarted the client it was still like before. It's possible your talking about something else.

no ive bumped it up to 36 or something obnoxious be back in a little bit to get more detail

Okiedokie

the magic command is FontScreenDPI

just to warn you tho, none of the buttons scale and so its quite ez to cut and overlap text if you bump it up too much (presumably you could scale the UI to offset that)

i just did it @ 200dpi and the letters were over a quarter inch tall :)

didnt bother to check the scripting window, but if that doesnt effect it you can change that with FontSizeMonospace

I set FontSizeHuge to 30 and now its pretty big. ;p the FontScreenDPI didn't really help me much but thanks for pointing these out. If LL can make this possible to change without relogging, perhaps they can add a slider to the preferences panel for it.
