Please let us turn off the flashing neon signs in the IM window.

If it was worth the bother I would make an animated gif file to post here with the names of groups replaced with neon sign style slogans like "Eat At Joe's!" and such.

Next think you know they'll start making the text blink.

I am reminded of when I played with Forth on my Atari 800 long ago. That old version of Forth allowed you to easily replace it's system routines with routines of your own, so I replaced the error message routine with one that made the whole screen flash the word "ERROR!" in giant letters and play a looped siren sound whenever you did anything at all wrong. It was real funny for 15 minutes or so, then it got old real fast.

If only I could replace the sadly increasing number of garish parts of the SL interface with something subtle and refined as easily as I returned the Forth error routine back to normal.

A simple change in the color and or intensity of the tab would be sufficient to get the incoming messages all the attention I want to give them.

funny, i've been thinking it's not nearly as attention grabbing as I'd like. I often miss it and leave people hanging for an answer for 10-15 minutes. I guess it's a matter of taste.

They are going to be reducing this a bit in the next version by eliminating the flash while someone is typing. This will stop it from mis firing which it seems to do often while people are typing long messages, switch to another IM real fast, come back, etc.

I do enjoy the notification but maybe the next update you will find more to your liking?

i prefer it flashing since i work from home i have sl mim an i am on phone doing confrence calls an ect ....i know when some ones inst mess me but if i worked from out of my home office at reg job i guess it would be like hey all co workers <lookie> or whom ever lol <eg>

that flashing light annoys me soo much that i took a shotgun and shot my screen because i hated it soo much. Had to get a new screen after that >.>
