event calendar functionality suggestion

In the events calendar is it poss for you to create the ability to click on an event location - and go there or have it available as a landmark. its soooo easy to get lost in SL.
i have spent the entire time of an event just trying to get there! very disappointing and daunting to arrive and everyone is leaving - plus i cant learn anything that way and feel i cant play raindeer games either.

I think theres a bigger problem with the separation between this website interface and the game itself: we should be able to toggle between the two (not logg off/on), and one should be linked to the other in terms of contiguous info and presence of the user/avatar. i hope i described this clearly enuf...
Bottom line the website and game should be one - why log off when we can be all-on.?
please let me know if there is a way to do the above (i'm new & maybe just dont know this part yet) or if it is planned...

It sounds like you have played There. I understand what you are saying, similar to being able to send an AIM IM to someone via clicking a URL on a website. When you click that link, it goes to "aimendIMorsomethinglikethat". I guess we could do something like that with "SL:GoToLandMark.EventLocationNameHere" or something like that. It would be good, but, only if the event calender is some sort of webpage that is viewable in world. Just my 2 cents

Alt-TAB out of the game instead of quitting if you're not playing in windowed mode.

Better yet, switch to windowed mode in the Display options (before you sign in -- Preferences, Display tab, down at the bottom where you can choose resolution -- "off". Quit then restart and log in.

Mint, I'm so sorry you're having trouble finding places. Sounds like my first 2 weeks in SL -- always arriving at events just in time to say good-bye. heh.

A few things you can do absent the web connection you mention:

- ask any Linden for a landmark to the event. They usually have them, and if not, they can get them quickly.

- most events are listed on the sign in the welcome area on Ritch, and you can click the sign to get a landmark

- if you know who's hosting the event, IM them for a landmark. If it's my event, I'll even get someone to come escort you. And if it's not my event, I'll come get ya myself

- if you get lost along the way, IM a Linden and ask for help! They're all very nice people, and more than willing to help you.

To find out which Lindens are online, click the Find button in the upper right of the screen, check the 'Currently Online' box, and click the Search button. After the names come up, click the Last Name button to sort by last name, then come down the list and you'll see all the Lindens online. Double click their name, and their profile box will come up. You can IM them from that.

Find >> Currently Online >> Search >> Last Name >> Double click a Linden >> IM
