Walk/Fly/Move Ability while in IM Mode

Has this been posted yet? If not, here goes…

I chat a lot. (8 When I am idle in the general chat textbox (i.e. my cursor is blinking at the bottom of my screen where I type to those around me), I can move around, fly, etc. as usual. When I am idle in the IM box, however, I can’t move, change my direction, stop flying if I’m on auto, stop going forward if I’m just pressing the forward key, etc. The directional arrow keys cease to work.

Is there some way the directional keys could continue working while IM chatting? Having to continually leave and return my cursor to the IM window gets tiring after a while. (8

Before the queries as to why I use arrow keys over wasd start, just know that I'm left handed and use the touchpad/mouse with my left hand. (note smileys too hehe)

You wouldn't be able to use wasd anyway, without first taking the cursor out of the IM window.

I don't know if there's a workaround (other than Esc to remove focus from IM) yet, but I'll be watching this thread to find out, because I have the same problem =)
