Janitor to clean up after us

As the world turns into a SecondJunkyard and Lindens obviously have better things to do than cleaning up after us, it may help to decrease primcount and ease our mind to hire some Janitors. There's stuff out there belonging to trial users from July/August, never went public...

The Janitor in my thoughts is a longterm resident who is in charge of cleaning up "misplaced" prims in one sim. The only power this janitor gets is to Return objects to its owner - much like every resident can do on his/her own land - but do so as well on Linden land.

Each time the janitor uses this power, this Return to Owner action is recorded for review by Linden. The object is not lost, but simply returned to the inventory of the owner. In case the owner does not agree, first stop would be contacting the janitor, and if that doesn't solve the matter, contact the proper authorities. Overusage of such power would result in firing the janitor.

To keep the janitor for getting too anxious, a few restriction may be helpful:
- must be a resident with interest in the sim to clean up (own property),
- only one sim per resident,
- one month on trial,
- reasonable online time.

I think the best way to do that would be to just let all players know about every object they have in game. And of course, give them a means to delete or find them. There's been a suggestions along this line before...too lazy to explain it more detailed here lol.

I know that everytime I see what I consider an abandonded object I make an LM and IM the owner. But doesn't do much good if they are no longer a player.

I volunteer for this position. I am a neat freak, so I would be good at it.

Hell with hiring. I will do it for free. I did a fly around yesterday. I lost count at 40+ trash prims on Linden property, or left on other peoples property. This does NOT include trash on public land that is decaying. Also I didnt hit all of the sims.
I again seriously offer my service to the Lindens to return this trash to peoples inventorys. I am NOT asking to be able to delete it. I am willing to follow any guidelines set down by the Lindens on the return of said objects. Lindens if you won't let US clean up, please have someone do a sweep. I will be happy to show you were many objects are that need picking up. Hmm, maybe if we file an abuse report for every piece of trash we see. Even, if only 100 peeps would do this 40 x 100 is 4000 abuse reports. Think this might motivate a clean-up? Mwa ha ha ha ha.

If you get the job, Devlin, you can start in the Kissling River in Kissling which seems to always collect old shopping carts and tires like many rl waterways. There are numerous abandoned items there now rusting away. Maybe they accumulate in that area because of the high cliff there which has seen its share of head on collisions by unsuspecting flyers. Just don't delete my 2 sound boxes on the governors land (playing the jaws sound) near Cal Rogers shark pit.

If you find objects on Linden owned land, get your nearest liaison. Players arent supposed to leave objects on Linden land, so they will come and take care of it.

No, they don't. That's the whole point here.

Besides, I'm sure they have better things to do that garbage collection, but that's another thread.

In either case a trash man, er I mean "Sanitation Engineer", may be a good idea depending on how hard it would be to do..

I wouldn/t mind being a trashman on occasion, I could strap the cans on my feet and clog away!

Well I have personally followed char around while she deleted objects placed on linden land, and have specifically requested deletion of objects many many time, so if you see some objects that they missed, get your nearest liaison. Liaisons are PAID, people! They are here specifically to attend to our needs. What, you thought they were event advertising machines?

I'd kill for a way to track down rogue prims... I know I have at least 2 sword blades hiding form me in Darkwood somewhere. I lost them to an eroneous cut/paste into a location box... So that's 4 prims of mine that I have NO IDEA where they went that I'm paying taxes on. ;)

Oh yeah, and I'd love to be a trash man. There have been a few objects rotting in Darkwood since I started playing that just don't belong... Cmon, there is a metal culvert rusting over near the Druid's Grove... And what looks like a balloon on a string and a rug dropped on the sidewalk near the stage by a trial user.

Phoenix, check around Thai Greenacres house/store in Perry. There were a couple things there I think belonged to you.

Phoenix, in Avatar Central there's a little sheep thingy that has a script to "find" lost stuff. Just found it recently myself...I didn't get it since I could make one myself but I thought it was an awesome idea. Try looking into that or scripting some kind of method to find the stuff. The way the "sheep" worked is that it'd try to detect your objects and if it finds one it sends a particle stream towards it so you can find it. Pretty nifty eh?
