Hey, Folks,

Does anyone know if there is any work in progress to turn SL into a platform, a la Mozilla? This would enable one to write plug-in/extensions for SL, which we can't do at the present. I, for one, would be interested in writing an avatar creator, which would take one or several images (read: photos) and turn them into a life-lie avatar.

The SL Source code is readily available. You can write your own viewer, and include various things, if you want to go through all the coding for it.

People have already done it, with various things, such as the Restrained Life viewer, which enables more control in BDSM relationships, and a few other things.

SL is very resource intensive, and I doubt it will ever be introduced (At least not fully) into a browser version, because of that. If you want to add features, just work with the source code.
