There are certain announcements that everyone really should know about, or get a chance to read.

Things like:
* Live Help disappearing and the new support portal (blogged, but more people didn't know than people who did know)
* changes in LindeX tier (blogged, but seeing how often it comes up, many missed it)
* payment issues (blogged, but still the majority doesn't know)
* dangers of buying L$ from third parties, most notably eBay (never publically announced)
* update payment info (sent to a select few by third party leading to possible phising concerns)
* the existance of landbots (hinted at in a end of First Land blog post, now long burried)

The blog is far too transient for important announcements (a few grid hick-ups or don't log on for a few days and it won't be listed anymore) that everyone should know, and not everyone knows someone who bothers to keep up-to-date, or reads the forums.

If the account portion of the site had a "My Message" or "Important Announcements" section and LL makes an effort to promote the existance of it, then everyone has a way to keep up-to-date.

A few things could/should be "stickied" (so that new residents will see it - like the landbot and eBay warning) and as long as LL refrains from posting "noise" (lookie! pretty skies!) to it, it will stay informative and useful.

An in-world personal announcement that a new message was posted would go a long as well, since as it is, most people don't ever really go to the site at all.

LL really needs a decent way of being able to inform the majority of residents about some things and there currently really isn't anything like that.

This is an excellent idea. If managed properly  this could be very useful.

Sounds like an excellent communication vehicle, allowing both residents and LL to spend less effort on repetitive haphazard searches and postings, and more on actual needs and interests.
