More than one continent! Just Seeing the figure of one small island and a supercontinent, instead when more sims release lets have multiple continents and start another, have simes just made of water to connect them and have boat rides and airplane rides to them, or heck, just fly if you need to...

Keep in mind that one sim is 1000 dollars to put up, not to mention keep running.

Not really. you could simulate it. ie have the "oceans" on the map but no REAL sims and when you try to FLY over an ocean at some point you hit a "warp" distance where you "jump" the ocean to the other continant. problem solved. just some coding no need for actual servers to run them. Actually they've already stated they can run multiple sims on one server. So perhaps they could put a bunch of water-only no-build sims in those missing holes in the existing map and maybe even run them off a single server...

i endorse this idea!

shouldn't be too hard.. i imagine one server could handle an entire no-build sim, just a thing to travel across..
..it would be great to see more than the Pangaea that we have now..
..and once more, besides Sim names, i would like to see Region names.. and if this idea is implemented, then Continent names as well!

I'm still holding out for planetary sims -- teleporting "offworld" to one of the moons of Jupiter or Saturn, or to Mars. . . . Why stop at other earthly continents?

What if instead of buying new servers for this purpose, take the oldest servers (the ones from the alpha/beta grids) and put them out as water sims. The benefit to this could be two-fold as I see it. First, it would allow the oldest servers to be replaced with the (what I can only assume are faster) current 'standard pizzabox'. Second, it would allow for this to be added without the 1000$ per sim pricetag that Darwin spoke about. These sims would maybe support 500-1000 linden owned prims for trees, rock, buoys or whatever. All land could be Linden owned and set to no build. The only real 'load' on the box would be from people flying/sailing through. No land would be owned by players, therefore it shouldn't use much bandwidth. No textures to push, no 600 prim bookcases to display. Anywhoo, just an idea.

From: someone Originally posted by Catherine Omega How is 6.55 square KM a "supercontinent"? Slight de-railment... where is my math wrong? I get 65km squared per sim... The current 'continent' is a lot more than one sim.... or is a squre KM not 1,000 square meters? Er... I think I'm confused. But I'm off work and onto the IMAX! Woot! See ya!

Square km is 1,000,000sqm. So each sim is less than 1sqkm. -Adam
