For individual avatars, or group members:
- definable fonts (say from a public domain pool of about 100)
- definable notecard backgrounds, with light customisation capability (say, like personal or business letterhead)
- color/tint settings for above
- custom sound set (IM from individual or member of group X is like a ringtone)
Advantages:
- immersion
- business purposes
- income for the Company
Bluntly put, I'd pay 50 bucks a month if I could get my Independent State of Caledon group the ability to send fine paper notecards with quill-penned text, a distinct IM 'ding' (think ring-tone), so on and so forth. With a bit of light customisation so not everyone is forced to be exactly same.
Yeah, I know people can photoshop stuff like textures for notes, &c &c - but... what a pain that is. I want to immerse the tools a bit.
So if someone wants to drop a note that looks like a compatriot of Robert Burns or Jane Austen wrote it, they can.

And it would really impress me if there could be a 'steampunk skin' (for instance) that group members could overlay on the official client. Not a public domain client - but something that would become a client option upon group membership.
Hey, why not give a rich, anachronistic feel to the already eclectic arcane weirdness of the group controls. If we are stuck with such intricacies, let's revel in 'em - give me the Professional Artifex's Group Confabulation Device!
I'd pay something to have this - possibly a good bit if it was cool.
Linden peoples, is this hard to do?
