This may fall under the Technical Difficulties column, but there are lots of great looking chairs in the Consignment Superstore, but I've had less than a little luck sitting on any of them. If items can not be used for their preordained purpose, then what's the point. Perhaps a target primative within a linked object can be specified as the 'sitting spot' for that object. Heck, sometimes my av just starts walking and/or flying around aimlessly when I ask him to sit. Or maybe someone can clue me into how I am not using the 'sit here' command properly. Also... being able to lie down would be great - especially for sleep mode.

Never Mind

Sorry.. I just saw Peter's thread regarding the same issue.
But it would still be nice to be able to lay down.

another question.

Ok, let's look at a theoretical. If I step onto a piece of land, and then a cylender comes out of the clear blue sky and drops on top of me trapping me. Then the ground *and* cylender begin to rotate until I'm lying flat. Will I look like I'm falling and do that weird arm/leg flail? 'cause if it's possible to make an object that alters my rotation to horizontal then lying down could be a function of your bed...

smashing by cylinder

Sorry, Celerity... smashing by big cylinder won't do the trick. Special magic keeps your avatar upright. We might add sleeping someday, but it will be after we get sitting working better.

special magic?

Somebody's wand is running out of batteries, I seem to fall over all the time, like when I try to walk down hill.
Maybe my avatar is just clumsy.

Custom gestures
11-23-2002 17:05
This might be a feature for the far future - but I know one thing that us testers have talked about a lot is being able to make custom gestures. I for one think it would be lots of fun to make "martial arts" gestures, and figure a way to make them inflict damage in the outlands. Afterall, its not good cyberpunk without your street samurai. One idea I saw was discreets gmax product - I think you guys are using poser right now, but speaking from a "all my experience is for 30 day trials" point of view, it would be nice to see a product that is free on the consumer side of things. It allows the developer to specify the tech requirements, and it allows for some simple IK solutions etc. Also - gestures could be sold - think of making a dojo where you can purchase "drunken boxing" for L$. or a dance studio for ballet lessons BBC

avatars are jointed already aren't they? Couldn't we eventually control them through script?
That would be cool, possibly more flexible than static gestures 'cause you might be able to react to stimuli and behaviour branch based on it.
I think it'd be neat to be able to script your avatar.
create an ant helmet that shrinks you when you put it on. Or you could maybe change the avatar constraints so they don't always stay upright so you could script cool flips & stuff.
Wouldn't have to rely on attachments so much =)
