It would be great if you could specify an object as "borrowed", where you could give somebody an object, which would tell them that it's borrowed with a dialog (so accept yes or no). Then they could use it, attach it, etc. without owning it. They could treat it as if they did own it, but they would not. You couldn't sell it or give it away.
It would also be noice if you could specify, as a parameter of llBorrowed, the length of time until the object is returned/destroyed.

I endorse this idea/feature.
I would say that the borrowed objects couldn't be edited unless specified also, don't want someone messing up your object while borrowed.

They already have this feature in There.
You can loan something to someone, and then recall it at any time.
So the next time some newbie asks to loan a vehicle you bought, you could do so without any fear of it not being returned.
I like this idea, and it's one of only a few things that There has as a feature that SL doesn't.

Oh Yes.. All the test drives i could give people with this feature  I cant say hom many times pople didnt buy my vehicles because they wanted a test drive. I refuse to give a strangert a vehicle to "Test" since i have no way of getting it back.

This would also be a very good feature to have for LAND!
I have had land stolen from me so many times, it's ridiculous.
