Why can't trees be scripted? Ya know the ones that we can make from the editor that we have to place a few dozen of b4 we get the one we want. Hmm on that note, how about a way to select the tree we want instead of placing a few dozen lag supplying trees b4 we get the ones we want. But on the original note for this post, I went to script a tree with a command delete script and well it wouldn't take it I planned on placing a forest's worth of trees and need them all to be able to delete on command.

I also think scripting trees would be great. Also need some trees without leaves for use in spooky settings =P

I have 27 summer trees inworld, and will be uploading up to 50 more winter and autumn trees tomorrow. I should have them all built and rezzed by early afternoon est.
I'm having a sale on them for $1 per copy early in the day, and then the price will be $5 per copy.
Thanks, Candie

What I've noticed about the built in trees (and I admit my experience is fairly limited) is that they use leaf parts that are non-solid and use transparency textures, and that they sway with the wind (a tiny bit too much for my liking). Isn't it likely that the swaying is done with some form of internal script?
In any event, maybe the easiest thing to do would be for Linden to "Open Source" the tree components so that it would be easier to develop variations.

I think the tree swaying is handled by native code, not LSL scripts. The vertices themselves change, and VERY smoothly, in a way that is not possible even with physics. I'd guess it is client-side.
