Definitely the mentioned things, and...
Tabs in the inventory panel so you can have a tab for landmarks, one for objects and one for clothing etc. without needing to open several windows, and without having to unfold the huge structure.
A preview picture on objects so that you don't need to look ridiculous by wearing the object around your body to see what it looks like. Just a simple photo on the Object Property window. Not directly a directory issue, but it when searching in the directory that this is needful.

Imagine the effect clean Inventories would have on resource usage and performance. These are great suggestions.
