Please, make it possible to let land without having to deed it to a group! You can lose land this way if the group suddenly only consists of one member "you". The only way to be on the safe side is if you let your alt avatar become the 2nd member of the group and I don't think this is a good way to solve the problem. It should be possible to let the land you own yourself (not a group), but if you do you can neither let your tenants manage the access list nor the ban list of the land and you can't let them set home to the land, among other shortages. Unless you want your property to be used by non paying intruders you got to put the the red ban lines up, thus make it accessible only for your chosen avatars, your tenants, but at the same time you must allow your tenants to be able to manage these lists too, as they have to be able to invite guests to their homes from time to time. This isn't possible unless you deed the land to a group or unless your tenants have to ask you to add their guests to the access list in the "about land" dialog box but that requires you to be online all the time to attend to this wish from them and your tenants will have to inform you as soon as they intend to invite new people to their homes, which of course is impossible.
The only way to solve this today is to deed the land, as you can't keep it yourself even if you want to
What do I suggest then, you may ask. Well, first of all, an option to make one certain choosen avatar (or more) co-managers of the access and ban lists in the "about land" dialog box but you have to remain the owner of the land yourself. Make an option for this co-manager to "set home to here". Also, for protecting ourselves against intruders who use our houses/land/skyboxes without paying rent, make the red "no entry" grid higher than 50 meters from ground or remake a whole new built in defense system in SL, something that has more control options but still isn't aggressive enough to cause trouble or annoyance among residents and neighbours, which alot of the defence systems that you can buy in world can cause, in worst cases. Make one that is safe and integrated in SL instead!
Why not also get rid of the red lines at the same time? I don't think they look very good in the environment. I think that it would be just as good if the same text, "no entry", would be printed in red in the main chat window instead of in world. It will look much better and the intruder will still get the message that he/she needs, to understand why he/she can't pass. If you still want some kind of text in world when an avatar walks/flies against closed land, you can let a red "BOINK" text appear beside the avatar's head when he/she hits the invisible border. But, please, don't even think of adding a sound to this bump, it will be so annoying to fly around and listen to all these boinks all the time. Even better than the bumping would be if you could make the flying avatar automatically and very quickly fly around any closed land and end up on the other side of it.
We need a solution to this problem in SL. Work on this issue, please, so we can let our land if we want to. I don't want to either deed my land or set up any aggresive defense or access system on my land.
I have an additional question concerning this that I want to ask LL. As the only way to solve this problem, the way it is today, is to deed land to a group, am I allowed to create a group and put myself and an alt avatar as members of it to prevent it from being deleted, or is this way to work around the problem forbidden?
