This has probably been recommended before, but I would love to see the built-in IM feature expanded just a bit to support a key feature that every other IM system currently supports (AIM, Yahoo, etc.)
Namely....give me the ability to selectively make myself available or "away" or whatever. I sometimes need time to myself to work on projects, yet I always appear "available" for IM messages. Help!

This sounds like the purpose of the (BUSY) feature. Is that what you're looking for?

Doh...there's a "busy" feature?
Yes, that's exactly what I'd like to use. How do I turn it on?
(feeling quite the noob)

Zero i believe the Busy selection is under the VIEW menu...It's directly below AWAY, and it block all inWorld IM's and items sent to you.

type 'afk' in regular chat and then don't move your mouse - it will put you in the busy(or away, not sure which) mode. moving your mouse will undo it.
also they are in the pull down tabs up top. busy and away. one will go away if you move (and lets messages in), the other blocks most everything and you can set your message to those people in your preferences.

I would just like to type AFK and have it notify anyone sending a message that I am afk for a minute but still permit the message to go through.. more of a courtesy thing. I hate sending an IM and the person on the other end doesnt respond not knowing if they are afk or just ignoring you.
Or is this a setting you refer to Camille that will allow this to happen everytime afk is typed? Or does it have to be reset at each log on?

(BUSY) is under the world menu.
When in (BUSY) mode:
- A message is automatically sent to anyone who tries to send you an IM (This message is configured in Preferences / Chat tab)
- You will not see any local chat on your screen
- You do not automatically leave (BUSY) mode, until you explicitly set yourself NOT busy in the World menu.
- You still recieve calling card requests, object gifts, etc

Hmm, does it say (BUSY) next to your calling card when you go busy? I still would like to see the calling cards expanded on to be more Instant Messenger like.
