UV maps

Is there anyway to get ahold of the UV maps for building clothing? So I can see the poly lines I'm painting over? It would help me to compensate fot texture distortion as I make the clothing.

i think those textures are also in the Avatar Texture Bundle. they're named CONONICAL or something. if anyone needs it, they can pick up that bundle for free at the Free Bazaar on Stillman.

bp, yep, that's exactly where I got them. Just one problem with "picking them up at the bazaar" -- Zoli asked about them during off world hours and had no way of getting to the bazaar for a couple/few more hours =)

Anyone else need 'em before the world opens today? Just drop me a line and I'll zap the zip over to ya.

just an fyi, they are not 100% accurate but rather fall short in the seams.

I havent done it yet but have considered putting colored edges on the maps & trying them on to try to figure exactly where they fall short. I'm working on other stuff right now so it hasnt been a priority. I wonder if others have made more accurate maps already???

Are the UV maps different depending on your AV settings, like different if you are fat or thin, short or tall, etc?

I would guess so, which means you have to make a custom map for your AV, but this sounds like a good start.

Pat, I'm still pretty new at this but the things I have made did work fine on different shaped avs, I made a couple of different bodies for that purpose. Seems they stretch to fit as you will notice mostly on well formed female avs.. can we say distortion? :D

they're still in the works. Supposedly they will be multiple samples. I've tried a mess of times on my free time to figure out the precise layout with no luck.

So I can't wait for those guides. If I ever crack it i'll def let yous know.

Just FYI,, the lowerbody conical.tga(or whatever it's called),, has the wrong UV coords for the foot sides & heel. I've been using the mapping UVs from Laceboots.TGA to get the right look,, it has a UV that covers the top of the foot, which is how the AVs are set up to read it.. I beleive it's for the Right foot and the left foot mirrors the texture.
