Seems like updates will wipe out the colors.ini file changes. I'm not sure if this is intentional or not, but is there anything we can do about it?

Save your colors.ini file, thats what I did and it still works. If you look at the date on the colors.ini file it says 12/19/03, so it hasn't been changed any.
