Suggestion for Improving Search

It would be nice to find an addition to the current search results or for the information on a specific region. It would be nice to see a field added to the results that lists the number of substantiated abuse reports filed within a region. This would allow residents the opportunity to make a decision if they choose to visit a specific region. I don't believe it would be appropriate to simply list the number of reports filed, but a count of the substantiated ones would be of benefit to our residents.

Interesting idea but LL will never go for it - they won't even tell the person who filed an AR what the status is, let alone show stats on places..

Sindy: Thanks for your reply, but my concept isn't meant to penalize any region. LL has many times stated that they want to allow residents to make their own choices if they want to visit a region. A simple number of substantiated abuse reports within say 90 days is not an unreasonable measurement.

I am an estate owner as well, with several sims. I would welcome this kind of information. I believe it would make sim owners more aware of what goes on on their lands.

Although I do understand that you, as estate owner, would like to know what is going on, and although you do state it is not to penalize sims, I voted no anyways for the simple reason that the effect can be that there is a substantial risk that people will avoid sims with high numbers.

I would simply ban people without ARing them to keep the numbers down.

No way. This would be wide open to abuse and griefing. True, you specify substantiated reports, but considering LL won't release hardly any information about an AR, no substantiation is possible. All we'd get is the word of LL that it's accurate, and we know how much their word means.

Edit: Heh, my first post. Nice work Percy, I was practicing being a hermit. :P

This is an interesting idea, but I think the fear of "penalizing a region" has some substance. There are some kind of places that "attract trouble", be it newbie/freebie places, sandboxes, places that sell special products. And a high number of substantiated ARs actually might show, that the owner of the place takes good care of the place. Sure, people could base their decision on visiting a place or not on the number of substantiated ARs, but I think I'd prefer them making their decision on what they witness themselfs and not on a number that doesn't say much about the actual situation.

Back in the days..there was a rating system for avatars..and it stayed on your profile for anyone to see..and either made you look very good or very bad..

The concept was good but the exploit was not

Fights would break and someone would get all their friends to negative rate the ex bf or gf. so they would end up with bad ratings for doing nothing..

Hence you see why its not a good idea.

I don't like it because there is potential for abuse by competitors. I like the current system. The user has to be trusted to know or learn if they are at a good place.

No. That would lead to griefing your competitor to improve ranking. Maybe they would start hiring noobs to do that. Grief camping. LOL.

Besides that: Many ARs are not related to the sim they originated from. It is just the place the reporter happens to be standing at the moment the AR is being sent.

I put this out to get some dialogue started. I am happy for the responses. The mere fact that we talked about it accomplished my goal. I'm thankful you all took the time to reply.
