Well this has come up in other forums several times before, But i notice it's not in feature suggestions, so here it is!
Yet again I've been outbid on a land auction (despite making a very serious bid) by just $1.
My only choice if I really want a plot (and will be afk at auction close) is to pay hugely over the odd's so that nobody else is stupid enough to bid (I did this recently in Atlas, for a plot larger than I needed, meaning that now I'm having to sell the remainder at a loss).
If I make a reasonably generous bid (inline with other recent sales, i.e. enough to put off most other bidders, but not ridiculously high) it seems almost inevitable that somebody will outbid me by the default (smallest) increment and then win the auction.
This has happened on three of the last four auctions I've bid on.
Proxy bidding would solve this issue. I don't care about getting plot's cheaper, I just want to pay a fair amount. Currently the only way to do this is to be sat at the keyboard refreshing the auction in the final few minutes.

I agree - proxy bidding is the best possible way of running auctions like this. Particularly as they are internatioinal, and people are running on different time zones, so cannot be there all the time.
I am astonished that it was not introduced right at the beginning.

Of course, LL may make a little less money from auctions if proxy bidding was implemented.
Would I sound too synical if I suggested that's why they don't rush to implement it?

Not only do i think proxy bidding should be implemented..
BUT, i'm also of the mind that the 5 minute extension should be done away with... maybe a 1 minute extension instead? some sort of compromise? i just loathe bidding on a plot i want, then instead of ending at the posted close time it keeps going and going and going.. ..these are land auctions, not the energizer bunny! lol.. but really, how many times have you found yourself bidding on a parcel an HOUR or more after its' original closing time? ..ugh.. FRUSTRATING!
Vote YES on Proxy bidding Vote NO on 5 minute extensions

From: someone Originally posted by Cybin Monde Vote NO on 5 minute extensions I agree 100%. Proxy bidding eliminates the need for the time extension anyway. Good to see some support for the idea too

If you have proxy bidding you don't need extensions.
