I don't know if this has been requested or not, but it would be great to see an object alignment panel when you're building.
I envision this working on a set of selected - but unlinked - primitives.
One button set would align the center points of all primitives in the X, Y or Z axis lines. One button set could align the edges for every primitive (to the north, west, south or east). The last button set could align all primitives to the top or bottom edges.
This would be great for precision placement of basically everything.

Heh, that'd save a ton of time for crazies like me who have to get everything aligned as accurately as possible. That's alot of time killed when I'm adding .01 to my position values just to get that perfect look at super-zoom levels. lol
With really complex shapes (especially if they're sheared, etc) I'm not sure how much even this would help when you're trying to "connect" them to other objects.
But in the mean time there's always "snap to grid".

I use a grid set to .025 for almost everything I make. It makes alignment easier without restricting motion too much as would a larger grid size.
But there are times when I, too, would just like to select a bunch of prims and click a button or keyboard shortcut and have all the selected prims to line up along their bottoms or backs, or sides...
Or even "close all gaps on the x axis" (or y or z) to make sure I didn't leave a horizontal empty space in my wall.
