I was wondering if it would be possible to have a modeling/script editor as a stand-alone product so that I can work on things while not online.

As a very special request (though not likely to be made) maybe a LAN version of the game where just a few people can get together and work on things. Maybe just a LAN version of the above idea, which is just a stand-alone sandbox.

I think that editing things should be possible outside of the game for times when I'm not online and consider throwing in support for LAN people to join my personal sandbox so we can collaborate on things. Or even not a LAN but just a personal server sandbox on my machine so that I (and others I invite) can work on things.

(Sorry. I didn't realize this wasn't a suggestion/request forum. Could a mod move this to the appropriate forum, please? I promise I'll be better next time.)

I agree...

I would love some sort of stand alone edit program to work on projects. It's hard to work on projects when all of a sudden an event starts in the sim you are in and the lag becomes insane, or for any of the millions of ways sims becomed lagged. A sim has crashed while I was working on several occasions, and if a sim is going to crash while i'm working I would rather be angry at myself for doing it than wondering what primmed out person passed through.

It seems the only way currently you can have your own space to work is if you own an island sim, and unfortunately due to pricing that is out the reach of many builders on sl.

So, please please please Lindens..... please give us a stand alone editor to work with and be able to upload the items :D

The main problem with this is that such a personal server would require them to port the executables of the servers from Linux to Windows/Mac, and they also have other problems, because they have specifically licensed Havoc software. Because of these licensing concerns, I find it doubtful that they will ever release a personal server. A LAN server is an almost definite no, because a non-Linden grid could be made using this.
