Security orb nightmares

Hi all. I know there's a chance this has been discussed before and if it's appropriate, please do move or merge the topic as needed.

While I'm quite aware that when someone owns a sim or pays for a parcel, etc, security settings are up to them, but is there not something that can be done for the grid in terms of making it more friendly for those of us who enjoy exploring and looking at the wonderful things others have created in a peaceful and non-threatening way? I don't know, perhaps some land designated to public throughfares or some such wherein at least you can manuver around via foot or vehicle without running into someones insane security settings every 2 minutes?

An example of insane setting is thus...Tonight I went walkabout fishing along the lake shore near my home. I was neither entering homes or going too near them if at all possible and was talking to no one. Just fishing and enjoying the scenery. I stepped across a parcel line and was immediately ejected before the drop down had come down on the screen. The ejection notice had a warning set to 2 seconds. That's not even time enough to read it! If that were not enough, the orb landed me in another secure area with a setting of 10 seconds, so by the time my av settled enough to move, I was again removed and this time all the scripts involved caused SL to lock up and crash.

I do try to practice what I preach with this stuff. While my home has a security device, it's generally off until someone is about being a problem, then it's set to just out of chat range within my home to ensure privacy of conversation if needed. If I notice a passerby, I generally go out and speak to them and sometimes invite them in if they are pleasant. I have a fishing area on the dock that is beyond my security device, so it can even be reached if I have to lock someone out for some reason. I don't bother about people camming, If they are going to do that, I can't stop them anyhow, lol...even if I were 5000m up in a 'secure' skybox. People that want to look will. In the end, it's pixels and if that's all they have to do with their time, heh, enjoy :D

lol, anyhow if there is anything in the works, perhaps groups dedicated to some reasonable standards of tolerance within a community of connected sims or the like, do let me know. I appreciate it. Thanks

That would be worth an abuse report under "scripted assault".

My psyke is set to "scan every 10 seconds, 10 seconds grace before eject", so you have up to 20 seconds to leave... And the few actual ejects that I see (i get notified for each one) are usually newbies who simply do not know what that blue popup means.

Those who enter any virtual world with the main purpose of making money at it...probably won't.

Yes. it probably is and probably someone thinks they were real cute with that setting, especially if they know how it winds up in conjunction with their neighbor's. THAT setting was closers to how you describe yours and would be reasonable enough if it didn't start while my avi was free falling from a previous ejection and while I was staring at my screen agape at the ridiculous message in the 1st blue window, lol

And 10 seconds is long enough to scoot across when just passing through anyhow, if it's just a parcel for a rental which looked to be the case here.

Just sad to think people get along so poorly that they feel so threatened with anyone being that near. May as well just leave your home in the 3-d modeling program IMO as to be that way. Just stare at it all day in complete peace and quiet...for free :D
