I propose the ability to turn off the client rendering of all objects and avatars outside of your owned parcel. Not only would this increase client performance but would also make mainland parcels more attractive by not allowing people to ruin your vision with theirs. Will also help with the ad farm eyesore problems as well.

While I agree that would get rid of ad farms, I'm unsure if it's possible to limit the rendering view to cut off at parcel boundry lines. If it is, then I think it would be a nice About Land option. Thinking about it, this is possible with sounds (restrict spacialized sounds to parcel), so should work with prims, particles and avatars.
In the interim, you could always lower draw distance *shrugs* Not a solution, I know, but might help on a case by case basis. ~Jessy _____________________

Dude, you are a true and good friend, and I love you like the brother that my mom claims she never had, but you are in fact acting like a flaming douche on white toast with a side order of dickknob salsa..maybe you should reconsider this course of action and we go find something else to do. |

Yes I already lower my draw distance as low as I can. It sometimes works depending on how big your parcel is and how far away you are from the ad farms and neighbors with bad taste.

There is a test client out that allowes you to 'mute' other people's objects, so that they no longer render on your client.
http://ablewhitman.blogspot.com/ I haven't checked it out yet, but Nicholaz has talked about it on his site as well. |

This is excellent news and a feature that is badly needed. It is terrible that you find your perfect plot of land only to have someone move in next door the following day and ruin it. Hopefully this gets implemented soon so mainland living will improve. |
