Better Landmarks

I'm finding it harder and harder to remember what landmarks are what. It would be great if they contained a bit more information than they do, like a comment field for a description. They should also show what sim they're in.

You are aware that you can rename them, right? Select one and press F2.

I have begun marking all my landmarks with the name of the county they point to. That way, if I can't find a landmark for a place, but I know what region it is in, I can just jump near it.

But, on the topic of landmark improvements, can someone tell the newcomers - myself included - what the rule is on teleportation? How far away do I have to be before the landmark offers that option?

I had to go out and buy an othopedic flight belt to help me cover the 1 - 2 kilometer range. On the other hand, if I teleport somewhere, I often can see that there is a two-dollar teleport option still available. (!)

Is ther eanyway I can make a landmark that will ALWAYS teleport? That way I can create....uh...nevermind what I can create ;-)

Kathy, other than teleporting home, all teleports cost money. The minimum amount is $2 (anywhere within the same sim you're currently in, I believe). Up to... ? I think the most I've paid for a teleport was $30, but I can't swear that was from one end of the world to the other. (Once when I thought about teleporting from within the "void" [ I'd flown off the edge of the world and gotten stuck there ] the teleport cost to the location I wanted to go was well over $1000 -- I opted to just wait it out where I was <G> ).

I've teleported as short a distance as ~20m once (someone trapped me in a cage in my home location [at that time on land that I didn't own], and despite repeated requests to delete the cage, he wouldn't]), but one of your questions suggests this may no longer be an option

Yep, I know I can rename them, but that doesn't help with landmarks that were given to me by others (which is about 95% of my landmarks). I'd like to see it where that info is included automatically when it's created. I also think a descriotion area would be very useful. If you're handing out landmarks for your store you can include a blurb, and that should be editable by the recipient so they can add notes.

I'd also like to see snapshots have a default name that includes a date and time stamp so you don't end up wading through 500 files all named "snapshot." Things like that that would cut down on a lot of tedious busy work.
