Idea! Undo last teleport option

I used to hang out in another virtual world (which shall remain nameless) and they had a very simple but handy feature.

Each time you teleported to a new destination there was a button on the bottom of the screen that gave you the option 'undoing last teleport' - meaning you were returned to where you started.

This was so handy, no need to search for LM's or other links. Of course you could wander around the place that you teleported to, but then you simply used that button for the return trip.

It is amazing how often you just want to zip back to where you began, say to your home, store or club. It only took you back one step - it did not have a long list of past locations - but it was still used frequently myself and all I knew.

Can we have that option too, pretty please?

It's not as elegant as it could be, but we do have that now. If you Ctrl-H to bring up the chat history window, you'll see a SLurl to where you just came from, and can click on that to go back. It's still a little clumsy but workable for now.

I believe that something MUCH closer to what you really want will be in the next viewer version. The whole landmark and history thing is getting a major rework.

Meanwhile, if you're willing to play with third party viewers, the Greenlife Emerald client does have a teleport history (only shows what happened during that login).

I could swear I have seen that already before. I know I have used it. Was it tested in another viewer or in Onrez or something? Because I know I have seen that before.

Yep, the onrez client had something like that. LL didn't really say if they got any viewer code when they bought the web site from ESC, but LL has been working on rolling its own version anyway.

When you teleport now there is a SURL in your chat that says the last place you just teleported from. Click on that and there is your undo.
