Face and Lighting?

It's a minor something, but I felt bored enough to post it anyway. A lot of us have certain nose/face setups that create creases in the face (like around the nose), due to the way the lighting system works.

I looked into it, and it's just a couple of really stretched verticies. Would increasing the amount of verticies around the nose area, or setting them up a little different fix this?

There is always the facelamp "kinda fix", but that's more or less a debate in itself. They help, but sometimes people have nuclear dawn versions, are kind of a pain at night, etc. And take up local lights. Also can change the environment settings, but then you're stuck at a certain time of day all day.

Another fix would be to change up the lighting code a lil, but I kinda don't see that happening as much lol.

Thoughts/Ideas?

It's due to the generally bad mesh of SL avatars. Same thing that causes the back of shoulders to look horrid, crotch to look bad, and a few other things.

We've been hoping they'll make it better for like...forever XD

Yeah, kinda figured. Haha. I thought maybe I'd be the one past that makes the devs go "Hrmm. You know he's right, we HAVE had this problem! Let's fix it!"

xD. Just adding in some verticies wouldn't be too hard, at least I don't think. If it's just a lack of them that's causing the stretching. I'm not a professional game designer or anything, so I could be wrong haha.

Is there any "workaround" atm for this? Or is it "just settle with certain face sliders"?

Since it's windlight now, you can generally make your own skies that work for your face well enough. If you do it right, you can create an entire day cycle that works for you, but others may still see you looking creasey.

That's about the best there is. And I've yet to see any settings that work for ALL default sky settings.

yes and for pete sake, turn down your facelights. They are like 10 times as bright now under windlight, and it's just crazy to see someone TP in and light up the store like they lit a flare. :(
