Please Hold Townhalls on sim corners

The repeater idea was nice and all but if I didn't want to see the event in person, I'd read the summary e-mails that are likely already floating around.

Please move future townhall events to a four-sim-corner event site so that four times as many people may have a shot at observing the actual event in person.

This, I think, was actually the first case where the Lindens showed an object at the town hall.

I was actually thinking it might be better if they held them repeater-only in future. That way, the sim where they were broadcasting from wouldn't get bogged down, and everyone would be able to listen.

If they had a Linden at each satellite town hall to demonstrate objects, it seems to me that it'd be much more effective.

Yes, I think that the Lindens should hold it on a sim off-world, that only they can get to. We can have listening parties around the world, and we can send questions via IM. That'd work great.

Plus, we could get other things done while listening to the broadcast...

Ahh this is an awesome idea. Maybe have the repeaters near the telehubs so you can teleport easily.

The problem before when Town Halls were held on sim corners, was that the surrounding sims would crash all the time during the event. This time, they attempted to restrict the life participants to one sim to keep crashes down.

I'd prefer to not have people there at all, and go with the Linden demonstrator "proxies" at several locations, and have Philip at some secret Island sim. I know we'd all like to see him, but it's technologically not possible. Even 4 sim corners isn't enough to hold all interested parties at a meeting.

Ack! Well, if we can't have four corner townhalls, I'll just camp out at the site of the townhall for a few hours in advance, if that's what it takes. But for goodness sake, don't make it off-limits-- a mediated townhall is not a townhall at all. It's CSPAN. Might as well call it "moses on high" at that point, because the information flow is effectively one-way. Maybe it's like that already, when we let the MC and guest run things, but the perception will shift if you place a physical barrier between the audience and the speakers.

*end cough*

And I do support this idea, as long as they are some strong ass servers, perhaps a pentium 1 terrahert with a 2 gigabyte video card and 64 megs of ram :P

BTW

WTF is C3PO supposed to be USEFUL for anyway, besides whining? Stupid piece of scrap metal would be more useful recycled as a toaster. But even that would suck, because who would want to listen to a whining wussy toaster? Is he gold plated? If that's the case he should just be melted down into gold ingots. Help the economy some, and stop being so damn useless you stupid bucket of bolts! R2 is 1,000 times more useful than your tin man ass, and he's shaped like a salt and pepper shaker FFS!

I don't at all see a difference between off-world sims and what we had a few nights ago, besides from staring at avatars as they type.

We still had to IM our questions, we still had to listen to the answer, and most still wound up listening to broadcasts. I was there in person, and quite frankly, it was stupid. I should have put a repeater in my home and just listened.

An interesting thought, though....will future generations in SL think that Philip isn't real, because they never see him? "Philip's Angels"...ooo.
