When we recieve an email because someone sent an IM while we were offline, it would be helpful if there was a line in the email that said who sent it.

All the ones I have recieved stated the channel it was said on and the person's name in the 'From' field. But I have only recieved group IMs as emails so far.

I get emails all the time... the person's name is always in the From header.

I don't know why, but all of the one's I've recieved just say they are from object@users.secondlife.com.

tweke, what e-mail program are you using? i'm betting SL sends the mail with the FROM header in the form of "Person who sent it <object@users.secondlife.com>", which should tell the mail client that the name of the sender is "Person who sent it", and the e-mail address of the sender is "object@users.secondlife.com". However, your e-mail client may not be capable of interpreting the name properly, and only reads the e-mail address... if i knew what client you were using, i might be able to help you tweak some settings that might make it recognize the name part of the FROM header.

You're right, Phil. I found an option for displaying the header details, and there the from header is just the way you said.

I don't think there is much chance I can get the name to show up after FROM, though. I use AOL for my email, and their email program is not very sophisticated. At least, I can find the name by displaying the details.
