It would be great to be able to stretch a linked object in the same fashion as single objects

Charlie, I'm assuming you mean on the x/y/z axis rather than just the scale axis they let us have. In that case, secondededed

I agree!! its a pain having to unlink everything just to stretch them, then link them back up again, evil

yes, i agree! we were able to do this back in the pre-SL days and it was nice, even though it would crash 10% of the time. i suspect that's why it was disabled =] i hope it will be re-enabled in the future.

Yep thats what I ment bp, it is so a pain to try and fit everything when you are trying a trial and error to resize something linked to fit in with a grand project

not sure if everyone knows this, cuz i just found out yesterday, but u don't have to unlink something to stretch one of the parts. just select individual and then select stretch, and there u go

I'd like this.
What I'd also like is the ability to adjust position/scale/rotation of attachments via entering the numbers in addition to the mouse. For whatever reason everything I attach seems to go on at a very slight off center rotation and I can never get it precisely lined up with my avatar using the rotation sphere widget.

I just implemented better scaling for linked objects for the next major release. Uniform scaling will no longer move the primitives with relative to each other and you will be able to perform 1-D scaling (local x,y, or z) on any single primitive of a linked set without needing to unlink (previously you could only do uniform scaling of such individual primitives).
Unfortunately we cannot yet support arbitrary 1-D scaling of linked objects as a whole because with arbitrary rotations you could then achieve arbitrary shear which we do not yet support in the various primitive shapes.
Also, currently my fix won't allow you do 1-D scaling on pieces of linked sets while they are attached to your avatar, however with a little more work (in my copius spare time) I should be able to get that to work too.
