Group IM spam is a nuisance. (should we call it SPIM?)

Not every group is intended to be a party-line gossip channel, and all it takes is two group members who don't "get it" to turn an otherwise quietish group into an unending flood of chatter.

This proposal would ask for the ability to set a L$ fee (or fine) per IM to a group. Players would be warned when they open an IM window that they'll be charged for sending messages, and how much.

Proceeds would be deposited into the group L$ account like dwell payments used to.

Some groups are intended to be for announcment or ownership, not for conversation. This feature would help encourage people to IM each other directly and reserve the group IM channel stricktly for announcments.

That would be AWESOME.
I know Council of Wyrm(ling)s has this issue. I think someone's almost been banned from starting a convo with "rawr." The group chat is supposed to be for serious topics dealing with the group(s) such as "There's a party for Daryth's hatchyday! Come on down to Limbo!"

Although there was a good random one that started with "*Tosses a steak*" or something like that. Giant pile o' scalies trying to be the one to eat it--or was that another usually quiet group (Dinosaurs Alliance)?

Either way, I'd like to see some kind of discouragement to starting a group convo, but still allowing all members to do so.
