Bank (Perhaps a repost?)

I'm not sure if this idea was already brought up, but I figured I'd start it again to get some feedback from others anyway. :P

Why not a bank system? A concern as of late is that people build with too many primitives, hence an uncomfortable tax that is hard to take care of. If people had a way to put their money away when they want to, it might support the growth of the world in a more slowly (but perhaps more naturally) fashion, as well as giving people with tax problems less of an excuse for their financial fixes. Plus... a tiny tiny tiny interest rate (as in a savings account) would give people the incentive to put money away.

Any thoughts?

*yawns* every once in a while, someone comes up with this brilliant idea... anyone else wanna shoot it down this time or do I really need to explain how the economy works all over again?

Hey! That's not nice. I understand the economy, how the stipend and tax system works, etc. I said it might have been a repost, I just haven't seen it in the last month I've been here. You don't have to "shoot it down" but you can tell me what others have suggested regarding problems with a banking system, or what the general concensus has been in the past.

Don't need the yawn or the lacadaisacal "someone wanna deal with Daemioth or should I?" 'tude. :P

I believe the primary problem with a banking system is that there's no way to enforce repayment. People have lost money by offering loans that were never repaid.

Here are a couple recent threads about loans:

Thank you, Ezhar, Jake--

This is (surprisingly) the first Forum/message board I have -ever- been a part of before so I didn't realize there was a search engine for it. And, those two links were helpful and explained a lot.

Besides, the main purpose of a bank would be to get around the 3500 dollar limit which would be cheating.

Actually, apparently not. Someone (I don't remember the name) claims to have specifically asked several Lindens about this and was told that there was no problem with it.

Leon Guilleaume. Another failed attempt at a player controlled bank :)
