I think it would be very nice to have an explanation (especially for the newest members coming in) regarding the economy. Here are some things I would like to see included which are also things people have been asking.
Whats a stipend and whats a bonus.
What determines each.
How often do they occur.
What all are we charged for and how much.
What about our inventorys.
I think having these questions answered (and Im sure there might be more others can think of) will help us in budgeting our expenses. The Account History in the browser is pretty helpful but I think a tutorial type explanation of what all is involved in spending and earning would be an added plus. Thanks

Economy 101

There's an explanation of the economy in the getting started guide which can be downloaded (.pdf) from the downloads section of this site. See page 23. For something a little more convenient (and in-world) we'll post on the bulletin board. Stay tuned.

Financial Transparency Please!

It seems that my checks in the Linden Nat'l Bank have been vulcanized! I attempted to log on last night (to no avail due to a server outage) but was able to see my L$ balance was at -$230. That's an overnight swing of about $1,500!!! Now I know that there are some taxes for land and lights but this seems to be a bit exorbitant... or am I just a naive newbie who thought he could get away with buying more land than he should be able? Regardless, it would be VERY helpful to have some sort of indication as to how much fees are going to be based on my current ownership profile (i.e. land, lights, all other taxable items) so I can budget more effectively. Currently I have about 15 tiny parcels of land patched together on a hill. To sit down and figure out what each of them are going to be taxed, then try to determine how much my light bill is going to be every week can suck all the fun right out of the SL experience. I can sell off my land to get back on my feet, but does $1,500 per week sound like a standard fee? If so, can someone lend me a primitive to make into a charity box?
