Having lost a few inventory pieces over the last couple months, both thru "object missing from database" and "failure to rez" errors, I've been wondering if there's a way that the servers could realize what's happened and report it to LL.

The "object missing" error seems pretty straight forward - something was there and when the client asks for it, all the asset server has to offer is a blank stare. Can anybody think of a reason that the server should _not_ tell LL that this has happened? Why even wait for the resident to report it?

The "failure to rez" errors seem a bit more tricky. Maybe they shouldn't get reported unless the object doesn't pop back into the residents inventory. I don't know enough about how this works.. :(

Kinda seems like these sorts of things would be useful to LL to have. Philips blog post mentioned that they can sorta judge the mobs state of mind in real time by watching the survey responses. Wouldn't this be an even better indication of how things are going on the grid?

Is this a stupid idea? Would anybody vote for it if I JIRA'ed it?
