Would it be too much to ask for a toggle in Preferences > Chat to let us turn off chat particles? They're annoying.
(Yes, I'm aware that we can turn ALL particles off in Debug. I'm not asking for that.)

Yes Please! Including ALL forms of chat. Nothing like swirling particles around inanimate objects (talking cubes). Add in that, at least for me, the particles often tend to lock up. Annoying (locked up or not).

Question, do you mean for each individual? Like so *my* chat particles didn't show? Or do you mean particles that *I* see of others and other objects?
I really wouldn't mind having both, have an option for "Turn Off My Chat Particles" and "Turn Off All Chat Particles", turn off my chat particles would make it so no one sees your particles when you hit enter, turning off all would of course turn off all chat particles from any person or thing. The only problem with this is it makes it harder to tell whos typing, which is fine if you don't care for your side (turn off all), but if the "turn off my" was an option then others might be confused. (again, fine if you don't care, but I'm just saying in general) _____________________

It would be easy to implement on the client, but would require some extra code to stop others from seeing an individual's particles.
