i had not logged into the world of second life in some months,
but a friend of mine recently mentioned he'd been playing.
so i started on camping to get a few bucks.

to my dismay, i noticed a LOT of surveys.
i filled out about 10 from 2 land masses, 2 of the very popular
linden spots. you go there with scrolling money messages
and think wow what an awesome way to bankroll.

well, here's why its not.

3rd party sites are a great way to create security holes in your customers computers.
cookies can contain spyware, ad banners can lead to sites with trojans, keyloggers etc.
giving out real information to marketting and data mining companies,

why on earth is this in second life...?

i pm'ed all the involved people who owned these group affiliated land/surveys.
got 2 replies, one said why message me when i didnt create it.
the other replied a few times typing out reasons like.. i must not know about cookies.
actually, i've been working with computers for well over a decade and
am plenty aware about ports, cookies, dmz, proxies and so on.
they were of no help, and basically said you are out of luck.

if a ban was placed on gambling, in my opinion this REALLY needs to be shut out.
and sooner than later.

i have taken one survey which i got a payout for.
it was a page that loaded up, was directly related to SL.
asked me a page worth of questions about some potential
in game membership card, and paid me 10L.
thats cool, thats what "surveys" should be.

not agreeing to 30 terms of service on shady websites with potentially
dangerous files. go try it out though, you wont get paid and you'll see
what i mean.
