bring back hourly announcements!

just that. before 1.5 i at least got told when things were happening. now i don't even realising when stuff i'm interested in is happening unless i check the events list personally. this may sound whiny, but you all know this feeling. perhaps what should be done, instead of shutting off announcements completely is a checkbox in options to hear hourly announcements. all for?

I'll go along with some of this. I certainly wanted to get automated announcements and wanted it to be optional. But I was kind of disappointed that the only way to set notify on it is for each specific event you look up and mark. An option with one single click to notify on every event would be nice. The options to notify each kind of event you choose (like contests or general fun or mature events) would be even better.

I agree with that. I was wondering how weird it was that before 1.5 I used to get announcements, and then all of a sudden 'nothing was happening anymore'. It'd be best to have the option to get the announcements or not... As it is now, I more then surely forget to check the events list in time, and I'm pretty sure it happens to more than one person too.

the change to 'no announcements, unless chosen' was a great move at this point.

but i agree, there should be a 'get all announcements' and a 'get all announcements in category x.. and more than one if so moved.

They weren't automated announcements in 1.4 though, it was a Linden talking about whats coming up. It would be neat if this would continue but if people could opt out of the hourly event announcements.

"Announce Category" would be cool, like 'Announce TLC Advanced classes'

My first thought about the new option was "cool", then I found out that the flaw is that I have to mark individiual events that I may be interested in. We all know that events get posted throughout the day and we are not always vigilant in checking the events calender once per hour (duh, that's what the automated announcement is for!).

I support an enhancement where I can get hourly automated announcements for specific categories or all categories of events.

YES. I would like to see an OPTION to have an announcement which would popup an automated message which reads something like this...

"Hello, In this coming hour of X time there will be X general fun events, X classes, X mature events, ..."

X being the number of events in that category. That would give at least some incentive to check the events list, would make it so the lindens did not have to announce anything, and would not leave anyone left out... as people OFTEN were due to lindens picking and choosing which events they announced or how they worded it.

I fully support the return of some form of hourly event announcements as an option.

I personally am glad to see them gone, I never liked them as I never attended events and they didnt just fade away on thier own. However just like all things I am all for people having the option to do what they like, so make it an option that is enabled by default so the new users to the game can see all the cool things people are doing in world and those of us who do not care for those things can simply disable the option. Simple as that.

I was soooo glad to see the hourly anouncement be gone they were totaly a nusounce while I was building if you need an anouncement of something comeing up join the group and they still anounce to the groups.
I have joined most of the free classes so I can see what class is about to be given.
What I would like to see is a way to stop the group IMs without having to get out of the group.
