There are alot of awesome tree and plant makers in SL. The Problem is they are not 1 prim like the Linden Trees.

Why not have a contest to have players create more new trees and plants that can be converted to the 1 Prim Linden Tree?

It would be great to have more Linden Trees.

Better suggestion... llPlantSystem()

A tree or grass in SL is a set of textures and some fractal generation rules. There's no reason the client couldn't read these textures and rules from a list the same way it reads a particle system from a list.

Just as LL provided llParticleSystem to replace llMakeFire, they should provie llPlantSystem() to replace Linden Plants.

The parameters for llPlantSystem would be something like...

TRUNK_TEXTURE,key
LEAF_TEXTURE,key
MEDIUM_RES_TEXTURE,key
LOW_RES_TEXTURE,key
TRUNK_LENGTH,float
TRUNK_CURVATURE,float
TRUNK_COUNT,integer
BRANCHING_DEPTH,integer
BRANCH_LENGTH,float
BRANCH_LENGTH_RATIO,float
BRANCH_FORK_COUNT,integer
...

I agree, there's no reason not to make them customisable, you can't even re-colour them a little to make more variation. Hell, you can do very little with trees, I couldn't seem to put them into an object for rezzing, or link them into linked sets (which made moving a bath-house with lavish gardens an absolute nightmare for no reason).

The other issue I have with non-LL trees is the render option to turn off tress. I've TPed places that had prim-tress and had them rez in solid grey (of course) and tried to turn them off so I could see. No luck. So I end up in a place waiting for a few dozen textures to load just so I can figure out where I am and what's around me.
