Can't plant trees on land you don't own?

What's up with that? I've been happily building just about everything on some rental property for a few days now. House is complete, now time to make the property look better.

Apparently, this restriction only applies to plants in your default library (not sure if it applies to landscaping objects only, haven't tried the others.)

I suspect this isn't the first time this issue has been raised. Just count this post as another request to fix this.

Talk to the landowner about givingthe group role you're in the right to place Linden plants.

This is something that Linden should fix, not the landowner. So I didn't think it reasonable to bug the landowner about it. They're big boys, they know the score.

We had already rented a plot where placing Linden plants was ok. So we cancelled the one where it was not allowed, and rented another plot from the first landowner.

No, i say this is landowner's false. It is landowner's responsibility to give their renters appreciate rights on the land they rent. Linden Lab has already provided ability for land owner to enable or disable such ability on one's land.

Linden HAS fixed it, and as a landowner I've taken advantage of that fix by letting members of our land group place plants in our sandbox. If your landowner has decided not to take advantage of it, or perhaps even doesn't want to let you plent trees on the land, that's their decision. I don't care for restricted land either, but why should Linden Labs take that option away from them?

Maybe they don't. The new group options haven't changed the default behaviour (they can't, that would be taking the decision away from existing landowners) and they may not know it's possible.
