Add a feature to edit prims while being worn.

It seems really weird that you can't build on something you have attached so that you can position things exactly... If this were possible, a builder could do their work much easier, and modding of purchased objects would work easier as well. I'm talking about creating a new prim, editing it blend in or alter said worn object, then being able to link that prim to the object being worn without having to detach it.

Is this something that can't be done?

Yes, unfortunately, you can't link or unlink prims on a worn object. I'd like to see that changed.

A workaround for object makers is to use a posing stand and position the object where it would be when worn, and then edit away. You can leave and come back and get back on the posing stand and everything is right were it should be.

It makes sense that you can't unlink objects that are attached or you'll have two (or more) objects in the same location.

Only if they code it wrong.

You can unlink a prim from an unattached object. You can 'drop' an attached object. Unlinking a prim in an attached object should be equivalent to unlinking the prim and dropping it. There is no question which prims are being unlinked and which are not; the latter should remain attached. There is no semantic problem here, just implementation details.

No doubt the implementation details aren't trivial, but it sure would be convenient.

I never said it was a bad idea, I was just pointing out a stumbling block.

I understand this, but it should be possible to, as long as the objects are considered part of a whole, to unlink them. More to the point I was trying to make, it should be possible to LINK more prims to an attached object, modifying it without removing it. At the very least, it would make building an object much easier, since you could start with one central prim, and slowly build on it, allowing for a greater accuracy based on the base avatar shape being built on.

A posing stand doesn't allow you to do any of the things I suggest. It doesn't even allow you to capture the position of the worn object, drop it, then move it back to exactly the same place, so you can work on it without always being slightly out of alignment and needing endless tweaking afterwards. :-\
