I'd like to see lots of additional economic choices to allow different types of groups:
- Allow groups do hold weekly overages, rather than distribute them, towards future projects.
- Allow for people to contribute directly to the group account.
- Allow groups to hold events and give the grant and award to the group, rather than an individual in the group.
- Allow groups to determine when members can withdraw monies from the group account: - when a vote is called to permit it. - or officers can at any time. - of members can at any time.
- Allow groups to set a certain percentage of the group account as available to the above, rather than the whole thing.
- Allow groups to set a higher rate of tax participation for offieres and/or to exempt non-officer members all together.
- And I know I'm dreaming here, but create a "non-profit" group status for those groups performing community functions within SL and allow them a lower tax rate. (Here, I'm thinking of something like Second Life Consumer Reports.)

Speaking along these lines, I see that Eggy deeded land on behalf of Bhodi Artists and I got a notice that I will be required to share in the financial burden of this as a group member. I almost immediately resigned from the group, but decided to stick it out and see what develops.
I dont really know too much about why I am in this group, how about a meeting / mixer / orientation or something along those lines annouced via the group IM for this weekend or sometime soon.
I think groups should have more of a purpose now with 1.1. Im beginning to wonder why I am in groups, like Sexy and Android, that never seem to have a purpose or reason to exist.

Wow, it's a list of everything group accounts and ownership could have been, but turned out not to be! I agree with Loki, somehow or other I've got to get online and dump all those groups which were once harmless fun but now hold the potential for serious income damage. It's really too bad - a lot of the group ideas you listed were proposed as ways of strengthening groups and group participation. As it is, the group accounts are worse than useless and have already caused a substantial drop in membership. Without a means of building up a reserve of capital for group projects, they defeat the original purpose.

Loki,
Next time you get online, you'll notice that the building (it wasn't land) that Eggy deeded to the Collective has insteaad been bought by me - so it's not a tax burden to the group members. There is now a vote out to ASK if the collective wants to own the Gallery, or if I should hold on to it and absorb the taxes. Personally, because of the limited ability for group members to be exempted from or contribute to taxes based on rank or wealth, I think it would be best if I took on the burden for now!
