Hey, I have some ideas, that could improve groups greatly: (For proposals, go to jira.secondlife.com and in Quick Search type the code) >Join Group Floater - SVC-158 Some groups are RPG groups, and in order to set your 'role' to Barbarian or Paladin for example, you need to IM a group officer. My suggestion is, adding a Join Group floater instead of a simple Join action, allowing you to pick one of the pre-defined "default roles", see the abilities, and see the description. This can also be used in other groups, for city place rentals for example. As in, "Apartment Renter", or "House Renter", "Shop Renter", and so on. >Sub-Groups - SVC-159 Some groups that own islands for example, have "MySim'sName Management", "MySim'sName Rentals", and so on, because each group has different land, and allowing renters to place stuff on the protected sim land, isn't good. So, like Linking in JIRA, how about Sub-Groups?[/left] >Categorized Notices/Proposals & Ability to send Permanent Notices - SVC-160 Some groups have rules in the Notices for new members, and some have a group, (like mine) that offers unique made freebies for starters, and keeping land for it all, isn't enough. Instead, how about making categories for Notices and Proposal, and allowing to pick the option when sending to make it permanent? >More Roles - SVC-161 This one is short: Some groups need more roles. How about rising it to 15/20 then? -Smiley.

I'm not sure about naming it group-floater, but certainly adding a new option to let people join/leave some roles of their own accord would be nice. Or even if when entering names for a role you could enter multiple names that someone can then select.
For example (sticking with yours actually) I could create an "Adventurer" role in my group, and this would have appropriate permissions set. I can then set the role title to "Paladin/Cleric/Drunk" etc. Now when someone views their list of titles, they will see: - Paladin - Cleric - Drunk And can pick any of these three. Thus a single role could have multiple titles to choose from. This would be good also if you have a title that is gender specific so you could have (for a partying group) "Party Gal" and "Party Guy", as "Party Person" doesn't really sound as good.

I just want llJoinGroup(group, role); That'd make it all very simple

From: Kenn Nilsson I just want llJoinGroup(group, role); That'd make it all very simple Um, Kelly Linden already said in another thread why it is only partially possible, and why it's not already in SL: (Short summary of her message) A) Lag B) Too may database queries (AKA, MORE database lag, and imagine how it would be with 6.5 million people. Horrible. It'll be Second Death instead of Second Life) C) Not enough data cached for that agent, which results in (B) then (A). I don't have the URL for the thread, but search the forums.

Didn't read it 'til the end - I meant as in making several roles (5), for example, Club Moderator, City Moderator, etc. for a city group. Instead of IMing the owner, or an RPG group that has the appropriate perms per role - For example, a land parcel has - No build, no fly, no push, and damage. When joining, if you select Adventurer, you have, build, and damage. If you select Ghost, you have, fly, no damage, but still no build and no push. And last, if you choose Mage, you have push, build, fly but still damage. See my idea, now? -Smiley.

Ah, that does make sense, and would certainly make it easier to manage since there are a fair few permissions now =)

Yeah... Isn't it? (lol). Voted on the JIRA proposal? The more voting the sooner it goes into the Beta grid. I split every idea to a different proposal, so it's no biggie voting for one idea .
