Since the build altitude has been raised to 4096 meters, there is a whole lot more 3D space to consider.
I would like to see a feature incorporating an altitude limit for the general public. This might be a set limit of 768 meters or a configurable limit.
I can imagine a check box for regions and parcels to toggle access and an access list to go along with that.
This would allow for the creation of "privacy zones" beyond the reach of camera manipulations at max draw distance of 512 meters.

It's bad enough as it is with full parcles, no entry parcles now you want to fence off based on altitude? Theres more sky abve the ground than you can build on and at 10000meters I can't see whatever your so ashamed of being caught doing. Your not the first to sugest this and you wont be the last. If your so paranoid about being caught doing something you don't want your mother to see you doing Buy an island and keep it for private use, group access only will stop your mom seeing you.

While it's an inventive way to solve the problem, I for one am really fond of the new height as the sky around my home (which I took off the ground due to lag) is getting very busy. Apparently people making skyboxes to pixel grind don't bother to look to see how many neighbours they have already up there who could cam in happily if they wanted. So I'm taking advantage of this by moving my home up a bit more to get clear again. Anyway, my point being, there are better ways to solve the privacy issue; by giving us ways to make private areas at ground-level ( http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-99) or giving us actual private zones to move our skyboxes to instead ( http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-1138). These solutions and others can all be found within the privacy meta issue http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-241

Just on the plane thingy. Id like to see a public flight corridor from 768m upto 1000m. No general banlines; fly, object entry and script-enabled in the corridor. Build, Push, Damage and Banned Avatar restrictions OK. I won't hold my breathe though, but it would be great =)
And vote for the JIRA issues Haarvikk mentions. They be good things.

A truly illuminating response. I didn't know accounts from the Teen grid could post here. If you want to fly aircraft, purchase your own property instead of trying to steal the resources of others. And for everyone's sake, stick to grid that fits your maturity level.

That's extremely rude Zena, Lucy's point is perfectly valid. If you're going to be insulting to people with valid reasons for wanting clear air-space then you might as well give up on ever getting posting features as it's counter-productive.
Flying with or without a vehicle isn't as fun as it used to be with all the access restricted plots about the place that get in the way at lower levels, meaning you have to fly higher but then you sacrifice your view as most things will become too far away to see properly. While sure, the land is their land, they can restrict access if they want, it's not very good to have a grid that is frustrating to travel around. It seems like fewer and fewer people just wander around because they're put off by over-zealous land-owners or technical issues (region crossings).
Besides which; buying land to fly over defeats the purpose. Part of the fun of flying in SL is seeing lots of new things, things you haven't built yourself!

If you build it, I can go there. As the aircraft person said, exploration is getting more difficult all the time with no trespass zones. In that respect, SL is not nearly as much fun as it was 2 years ago. SL seems to be turning into a dating and sex game. Perhaps there should be another grid for those that want to have sex... it could be called Sex Life.
