AV prim allocation idea.

There are several problems with vehicles, "auto return" and prim allotments.

I propose that each AV in a SIM is given a 32 prim allotment while they are in that sim.

When a prim is rezed the system will first try to rez the prim based on the normal prim allotments. If this is not possible due to land settings the prim is rezed using the persons prim allotment.

When a "land allocated" prim crosses a land boundary it will be re-evaluated and if necessary changed to a "AV allocated" prim.

If they leave the sim, the Auto return system will return any "AV allocated" items.

Pros
1. Allows vehicles to work on no-build land
2. Allows "boxed" items to be rezed and unpacked.
3. Returns tip jars

Cons
1. The land prim tool would have to be modified so that you could return "AV allocated" prims that are over the land.
2. Geifers could use it to rez items. A separate land setting may be needed.
Or "no object entry" could be used.

I do not want my sim reserving prims for visitors just so they can rez a vehicle. Is that what are you talking about?

I do not think i understand this.

Cons
3) "Inventive" resident would use camping bots as a way to extend a parcel's prim allotment.

30 bots would give you the equivalent of 4096m² worth of "free prims".

---

There's also a problem with the auto-return idea: prims moving onto a no build, no auto-return parcel with enough free prims would stay around as litter since the prims would belong to the parcel rather than the avie so would never get cleaned up as the avie leaves the sim.

There's really no need for this. If you are allowed to rez, you can. Even if autoreturn is on, as long as you remain seated on your vehicle, it won't return. And if someone explicitly sets it so you can't rez, that's because they don't want you to rez. Making it so people can circumvent that defeats the whole purpose.

I'd rather LL changed all their land to be rez-ok and autoreturn...

There are several problems right now.
1. You can't drive across a parcel that is full even if "object entry" is enabled.

2. Greifers can force a property over the prim limit and cause random prims to be deleted.
I lost more items last week
Disabling "rez" does not help since LL had to allow objects to enter in order to allow vehicles to function.

3. A new land setting could be added to enable rezing "AV alloted prims"

4. If a "Inventive" resident uses camping to extend a parcel's prim allotment then they will loses all those prims when the sim restarts.
A easier way to extend a parcel's prim allotment is to use prim rezers and rez either "temp on rez" or regular prims as needed.

The main concept is to provide a way of having prims that are not tied to the land so that vehicles and other items function without leaving large security holes.
