Can you make Jessie a mature area? Since almost all the people who want to have war live their (and already causing great lag there), it would be a good idea. Then their great bunkers and turrets etc. could really be used, and also they will stay in their own area and not cause lag on other SIM's when they play war.
Just an idea...

Weird. Historically Outlands areas were all mature. When I asked at one point if any outlands areas would be PG it seemed unlikely. I bet it was an oversight if it isnt currently mature.

yeah, Jessie was originally the new welcome area thingy where new players would come into the real world, and its purpose was changed to an outlands sim to accomodate the WWIIOL folks. if it is still PG, i'm sure it was just an oversight.

Now I don't get the 'Mature' anymore. What's the diffrence between a 'Not Safe' area and a 'Mature' Area?
In Jessie it's Mature.. According to the release notes:

"You can't turn off the land property "Outside Scripts" if you are in a
health enabled (not safe) region. This prevents people in combat sims from
making areas where guns don't work."

But on jessie there is land that has outside scripts OFF :S

that's why a LOT of bullets and other stuff is on the floor there... they can't delete themselfs

Also I have an idea to use llCreateLink and llSensor to track down bullets of some kinde (scan for the name) then move to it, link itself to it, and scan for the next, until none are found... then llDie.. that would remove the bullets... but I can't use that scripts there :S

Jessie is a Mature rated region last time I checked. It's also the only region now that damage-enabled throughout. Linden is creating a free-fire zone in Clyde, the region just to the north of Jessie. If you go there its basically a statement that you are prepared to kill and prepared to die.

In the meeting regarding the outlands etc it was said new regions would be changed to damage enabled IF the residents voted on it and agreed to it.

I have not heard of a vote taking place.

I'm all for making that area larger but transforming Clyde is a BAD idea. It creates a damage enabled barrier where people in the former outlands will either have to fly through or teleport beyond. From what I understand, new sims are coming very soon, why not give the new outlands a new sim where Jesse used to be or on any of the other sides of Jessie?

also, there are outlands-related stores in Clyde. setting damage-enabled to Clyde would make it all too tempting for griefers in weapons shops to kill the potential customer base... literally. i think this is a Bad Thing™

also, Jessie and Clyde appear the ONLY way to get to the 4 sims that used to make up the old outlands. That is like the entrance to those four sims. You cannot trap people in there by blocking it off with two outlands sims. People may not want to teleport, as it costs money. Please correct me if I am wrong.

i agree that making clyde damage enabled is a bad idea.

as much as i thought changing the outlands to damage-disabled without warning was a bad idea, i think turning on damage to a previously safe sim without warning is worse.

there's a possibilit that we have misunderstood, and that only a portion of clyde will be damage-enabled instead of the entire sim.

I also think making Clyde a free-fire zone is a bad idea. Besides the very good reasons that have already been presented, there is the selfish one that I have built a house there. I would not like to have to move, especially since with the land-slope restrictions now in effect, I am fairly certain I would not be able to recreate the house I have there anywhere else.

tweke has a good point. many people may have chosen to build in clyde because it was only a sim away from their friends in the outlands, but was damage-free. turning it into a damage-enabled zone would force them to either relocate or put up with getting shot in their own homes.

from the release notes:

"Fixed bug where scripts wouldn't run on damage-enabled regions (Jessie)."

This is EXACTLY what I was talking about :D

Clarification - only the SE part of Clyde is damage-enabled. I appreciate the concerns raised about making the whole of Clyde damaged-enabled and that is not in the works. The free-fire zone is the part of Clyde that was east of the Outlands Wall has always been damage-enabled and Linden-owned and contains no private residences. Linden turned off the damage on the northern part of Clyde to allow residents to fly through without fear. Sorry for the slow response, was gone this weekend.

I ended up having to release a portion of my land that had a locked, Linden placed sign plunked onto it right in the way of plans I had, warning of the free fire zone. It'd be nice to have been asked before something was locked onto owned land.
